Consuming probiotics can reduce body weight

Researchers from the Department of Cardiology at Taizhou People's Hospital in China have reviewed the findings of twenty five research projects investigating the impact of probiotic consumption on body weight and BMI. The combined research followed a total of over 1,900 healthy adults. They found taking probiotics reduced BMI and body weight. The greatest reduction in BMI occured in overweight adults. Furthermore, ingesting more than one type of probiotic and taking probiotics for eight weeks or more resulted in greater weight loss. Although the amount of weight loss documented in this study was small, it is another indication of the benefits of probiotics on wellbeing.

As you will know, probiotics are the naturally occuring "good" bacteria in your stomach. With the widespread use of antibiotics and the changes in our eating habits over the last fifty or so years looking after your gut-flora is important. The best source of probiotics to replenish your stores is produced by nature in the form of fermented foods. Contact us for further advice.
